Hi,

My name's Robin. It really is.

I joined The Ascham Bowmen in December 2008 after taking the beginner's course.
I've had my own recurve bow since January and enjoy shooting it with my fellow archers who are a very friendly and helpful lot. Still got a few quirks to sort out as, for some inexplicable reason, I'm still not getting them all in the gold at 80 yards! (Or 50 for that matter).

any rules about arrow tracer nocks?

I saw a while back, that you can purchase tracer nocks, that light up after being fired, and stay illuminated in the target and flash until passed over a magnet, for anyone interested I'm referring to the "Easton Tracer Nocks" and "Lumenoks". These nocks would seem ideal for archers doing long distances like 80, 100 yards, to indentify your grouping if you didn't have a scope to hand. However are there any rules against these nocks to be used in a tournament?

spinwing fletchings with a shoot-thru / prong arrow rest

I'm interested in the spinwing fletchings, wouldn't mind some people's opinions on them if there any good to buy. But what I'm mainly wanting to know is can they be used on a shoot-thru / prong arrow rest? I think I heard once that in order to use them on that type of arrow rest, you drop the angle of the arrow rest, or raise the nocking point, so that the fletchings then almost skip over the prongs. If anyone knows anything about this, I would be grateful to hear about it.

My existing Mathews Mission Menace bow is a great bow, especially for the price I bought it. I can't really complain about it, apart from the cam agression, but I've managed to reduce most of that with a doinker.

Seeing as within the next several months I'm going to be buying a new sight and stabilizer, I thought I might as well, go the ...

Came across this site in my travels, it appears that several of the archers are from the States. It is worth a visit to see what they get up to on the other side of the pond. However it is a youth archery site so they may not want posts from archers who knew Robin Hood, it certainly excludes me.........but some of our youth members may be invited?

I have learned I should be "getting to a point of holding before expanding through the clicker."

At the moment I find myself spending too long moving from draw to expansion and getting a tired shoulder any advice on this would also be very helpful.

Fox Archers held their Annual Independence Day Shoot at Otford today. The event was extremely well supported by archers from quite a few local clubs, and others from much further afield. The day was fantastic even though the weather forecast had predicted some showers. However the whole event was carried out under brilliant sunshine, and if anything the field being in a sheltered location on occasions was a tad too hot.
E-Bay - Don't get ripped off

I have heard many horror stories about equipment bought on e-bay regarding faulty equipment.
I think the worst thing that you can do is buy a set of limbs - you cant tell from the photo if they are twisted or have started to de-laminate - and the seller certainly isn't gonna say anything.
My advice is buy from e-bay - but get your limbs from a known supplier.
